Some trekking in la Caldera de Taburiente

Yesterday I came back from a two day trip to La Caldera with Tove & Colleen, it was really fun!! We went in on Thursday, at about 13.00h, and it took us about 1h30 to get in to the Camping place. Once there we fixed the tent, that looked like a spaceship & ate some bread with avocado (as usual :P)

Our own silver colored spaceship :D

After recovering with avocado and fruit we started walking up to "Hoyo Verde"...it was really hard!! at least for me!! the girl were running up the hill & I was always like 50 metres behind, tired & swetty...haha! But it was really beautiful! first we came to the waterfall la Fondana, huge, but not with so muhc water. But it was beautiful.

Cascada La Fondada

Then we kept on walking to the Hoyo Verde, thinking it was lite 30 min. left...but it wasnt...:P so we alked and walked and walked up the mountain, with me always 50 metres back, and finally we reached there, but it was so foggy that we couldn't see that "green hole" that was supposed to be there...but the fog started to fade and we saw that it was a little little river down there, then we saw another river, then we saw that it was a big river & waterfalls, so we decided to go down...it was beautiful!!

The way down to Barranco Hoyo Verde

Down in Barranco Hoyo Verde

After reaching Hoyo Verde we turned back...much easier to go down all the way again! :D And the way looked completily different!

Beautiful views on the way down

Stone marks to show you the path

Back at the campingplace we ate some pasta sallad that we really deserved after a hard day, played some cards and falled asleep at 22.00h, completely dead after 5 hours of walk...:P

Tove had a hole in her sleeping bag...& my sleepingbag didn't even reach me to my shoulders...

We woke up at the morning, quite cold and wet. All my stuff was wet because I forgot them outside...so even my shoes were completely wet!! as if it wasn't hard enough to walk in the mountain with Converse...We had some breakfast (yepp, avocado & bread..) and then we went down to the riverside & enjoyed the sun for a while, and our numb hands and feets started to get alive again...

The sun going up...

Enjoying the warm sun...

At 11.30h we started our trip again, we were supposed to the "Barranco Las Angustias" trial, but it was closed, so we should have gone back the same way we came, but we thought it was much funnier to walk down by the riverside all the way to Tazacorte, we thought that would be possible, so we started walking by the river, jumping from stone to stone, quite easy at the beginnig, & very beautiful...but after a while it started to be more difficoult, with big rocks and big waterfalls, & it wasn't that easy to keep on going, but we climbed & jumped with our big backpacks.

Jumping from stone to stone through the water

After a while it was impossible, so we thought that it would be a good idea to go up on the mountain again, and walk a bit up there to evitar all the big rocks and waterfalls, but that went out to be veeery difficult, our backpacks were sticked to the trees and bushes, and there was no path, so it we had to climb up and down on dangerous mountainwalls. After a while we realised that it was impossible to keep on going...I thought that we were near, but when we crossed a corner I saw 3 mountains to go, minimum..so it was a looong time to go, and it was impossible & dangerous to keep on walking that way, so we took the decision to go back...very difficult too, because we had to climb up on loose stones and pineneadles...Colleen almost got a big stone in here head that falled down when Tove was holding in a loose stone! But finally we found some kind of path (we saw some stone marks now and then) & then we came down to the river...once down on the river it took us about 15 minutes to get to the camping place!! when it had taken us about 3 hours to go down!! We couldn't belive it...but at the end we weren't jumping stones anymore, we decided to walk through the water (I don't know if my Converse will recover from this...). When we came to the camping place we were exhausted and really hungry, so we had a tale lunch and I called dad to see if he could pick us up at Los Brecitos...because we were soooo tired that it would have been impossible to walk other 4-5 hours to get to Tazacorte, and my wonderful father came, so after 1.30h walking with wet shoes we came to Los Brecitos where daddy was waiting for us with som nice chocolate that we really needed in the car...:D
So that was our little adventure in La Caldera!! It was so much fun!
